映画『光る川』 日本の高度経済成長が始まった1958年。 大きな川の上流、山間の集落で暮らす少年ユウチャ。 森林伐採の影響もあるのか、家族は年々深刻化していく台風による洪水の被に脅かされている。 夏休みの終わり、集落に紙居屋がやってきた。 演目は土地にずっと伝わる里の娘・お葉と山の民である木地屋の青年・の悲恋。 お葉の涙が溢れかえるように数十年に一度、恐ろしい洪水が起きるという。 紙芝居の物語との不思議なシンクロを体験したユウチャは、現実でも家族を脅かす洪水を防ぎ、 さらには哀しみに囚われたままのお葉の魂を解放したいと願い、古くからの言い伝えに従って川をさかのぼり、山奥の淵へ向かう・・ - 『アルビノの木」「リング・ワンダリング」で海外映画祭で多数受賞、国 内外で注目を集める金子雅和監の最新作。深く引き込まれそうな 水辺、近寄りがたさすら感じさせる洞窟や滝、悠久の時を刻む山々の 情景など、圧倒的なロケーションと民俗学・美術等に裏打ちされた世 界観により、現代人が忘れかけている自然への畏怖や人間の根源に ある生命力を描き出してきた金子。今回は岐阜県長良川流域の土地・ 民話・伝承からインスピレーションを受け、疲弊する現代人への原点 回帰的なメッセージを紡ぎ出す。 - 物語の根幹を支える女性・お葉を演じるのはNETFLIX「シティーハンター」でも話題を呼んだ華村あすか、お葉の悲恋の相手・湖にNHIK連続 テレビ小説「舞い上がれ！」で注目された葵揚、そして物語の眼差しとなる少年・ユウチャとお葉の弟・枝郎に子役の有山実俊などフレッシュな 役者を起用。また、足立智充、山田キスタ、堀部圭亮、根岸季衣、渡辺哲といったベテラン、そして『リング・ワンダリング」に続く出演となる安田顕まで多彩な顔ぶれが揃った。また、細田守監作品などを手掛けてきた音楽家・高木正勝が音楽を書き下ろし、作品世界に繊細に寄り添う。
